Born in Lawrence, Kansas, and raised in the suburbs of Kansas City, Abe is the oldest of five children. He was raised by my Catholic mother (Cathy) and Muslim father (Hoss), who was thankfully supportive of the Catholic faith. When he was in 6th grade, his dad got a job at the airport for America West Airlines. They began to fly all over the United States, and that is how his passion for aviation was ignited.
At the age of 19, he got his first aviation job washing airplanes in college. He earned a BA in Aviation Administration from Utah Valley University. In the meantime he earned all his pilot licenses and ratings. He worked various positions in aviation for ten years, including ramp agent, flight attendant, and cargo pilot.
His Catholic faith grew increasingly important to Abe during these years, and he had a tug on his heart towards the Priesthood which wouldn’t go away. So in 2020, he finally stepped away from aviation and went to seminary at Kenrick-Glennon (St. Louis) to discern a priestly vocation for the Archdiocese of Kansas City, Kansas. After one phenomenal year in seminary, he received the answer he needed and discerned out and returned to the flying world.
He currently resides in Kansas City next door to the Community of the Lamb, a French Catholic religious community. He commutes weekly to New York LaGuardia where he is based as a first officer for Republic Airways on the Embraer 170/175. Abe feels tremendously blessed that the Lord gives him daily opportunities to combine his Catholic faith with aviation. His favorite hobbies include young adult ministry, spending time with friends, Kansas City beer and barbecue, and traveling the world.
On April 29, 2023, he had the honor of marrying Sarah Elizabeth Burns in Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, Kansas City, MO.
